How many Sukanya Samriddhi Account Yojana (SSY) accounts can be opened?
- The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) permits the opening of up to two accounts simultaneously, with certain exceptions allowing for an extension beyond this limit.
- These exceptional circumstances arise in the event of the birth of twin sisters when a pre-existing girl child is already alive from the initial birth, or in the case of triplets, where three all-girl children are born simultaneously.
- In such cases, an extra Sukanya Samriddhi Account can be opened only with a valid medical certificate confirming the specific circumstances. Guardians or parents of the eligible girl child are eligible to apply for the account.
